Marty’s Reliable Cycle and the Foodshed Alliance present the Second Annual Tour de Blairstown on Saturday, August 5, 2017, in beautiful Blairstown, New Jersey, a town ready to share the secret of its unparalleled cycling with the rest of the world! Choose from 25-, 40-, or 62-mile routes through rolling hills and farmland vistas.
All rides start and end at the Blairstown Farmers' Market on Route 521/Stillwater Road (next to Agway and Blairstown Fire Station, across from the Blairstown Elementary School). All routes will be marked, cue sheets provided and rest stops along the way. Port-a-johns available at start/finish and at rest stops. Continental breakfast will be set up at the start.
Check-in for registered riders opens on Saturday, August 5, 2017 at 6:30am and closes at 9:00am. Register online - $45 online and $50 the day of the event. The 62-mile ride leaves at 7:30am; the 40-mile ride leaves at 8:00pm; and the 25-mile ride leaves at 8:30am. Minors 18 years old and under must be accompanied by an adult.
Lunch after the ride is included in your registration fee and is being catered by Race Farm Cafe and Creamery.
Following the ride, shop at the Blairstown Farmers’ Market and/or enjoy Blairstown Historic Day, sponsored by the Blairstown Museum, a celebration of Blairstown’s heritage on Main Street, just one block from the market. Spend the afternoon enjoying the ambiance of a bygone era with live entertainment; antique, craft and food vendors; antique/vintage car show; a birthday celebration for Blairstown founder John Insley Blair and much more.
The Foodshed Alliance is a grassroots non-profit located in Blairstown and devoted to promoting sustainable farming and locally grown, fresh, healthy food in northern New Jersey. The Foodshed Alliance’s LocalShare program connects people in need to locally grown, natural foods through gleaning and education. It brings volunteers to local farms to harvest food that would not otherwise be brought to market, and delivers it to food pantries throughout the region who, in turn, distribute the fresh produce to people in need. The Foodshed Alliance Farmers’ Access Network operates the Blairstown Farmers Market. With the idea of building a locally resilient food system, the market is based on core values: direct farmer-to-consumer interaction; food grown via sustainable growing practices which respects the people, the land, and our communities; and quality, nutritious food which promotes the viability of small family farming, enhances the local economy and protects our valuable agricultural lands.
