WARREN COUNTY HOT AIR BALLOON FESTIVAL PLANNED FOR AUGUST

Hot air balloons inflating and rising into the skies over Warren County, New Jersey.

The hot air balloon festival that happens each summer in Warren County, NJ is moving to a new location for 2020 for a five-day event that will include drone demonstrations and more.

The balloon festival, now in its 20th year, has been held annually at the Warren County Farmers' Fair. This year, due to the COVID-19 pandemic and restrictions on large gatherings, it was not possible to hold the Fair in its traditional fashion. While the fair is on hold, the balloon festival is moving the event to Warren County Community College. The College has been a long-time sponsor and over recent years started doing drone demonstrations to highlight their new Drone Program at the College. In the interest of doing their program justice, balloon festival organizers thought, why not hold the event in close proximity to their Drone Port? A win-win.

Tickets are now on sale online for the five-day festival. The schedule is:

Mornings:
Friday, Saturday and Sunday

Balloon Launches will be in the mornings at 6:30 a.m., followed by Drone Demonstrations by Warren County Community College, and Tethered Rides, as weather allows.

Evenings:

The Balloon Festival will hold the 14th Annual Bicycle Balloon Race on Wednesday, August 19, with a raindate of Thursday August 20. All of the funding raised from biker registrations go toward a local initiative, the Fred T. Grotenhuis Veterans Community Center project. Look for more information to come! Previous efforts have raised funds for the Fred Grotenhuis Memorial Scholarships.
