“I will honor Christmas in my heart, and try to keep it all the year.” - Charles Dickens

Let's all try, shall we? This week's photo is of the Christmas Barn at Wyckoff's Christmas Tree Farm (which is sold out of trees for the year, but still open for gift shopping). This may be our last Wanderings before Christmas, and perhaps for the whole year, so please stay safe, accept our heartfelt wishes for a joyous holiday season, and Happy Wanderings!

Shippen Manor Virtual Concert: Moss Henry and The Bryophytes

This week's virtual Lawn Concert features Moss Henry and The Bryophytes, an amalgam of veteran musicians with diverse musical backgrounds who have converged around the axis of country roots. No contemporary country/pop here, brace yourself for an unrepentant repertoire that harkens back to the days of cowboy movies, honky tonks and the opry. Performing are Scott Huber (bass, vocals); Gordon Welles (pedal steel); Mary Daly (fiddle, vocals); Sue Donahue (fiddle, vocals); Moss Henry (guitar, vocals) and Paul Yanosik (guitar). The virtual concerts are offered in lieu of the annual Lawn Concert Series that was sidelined in the COVID-19 pandemic. The Warren County Cultural and Heritage Division of the Department of Land Preservation, a partner of the New Jersey State Council on the Arts, invites you to enjoy online concerts by the bands that were scheduled to perform. Find the performance by Moss Henry and The Bryophytes here.

Holiday Cards for Seniors

The holidays are time to spread the love, share what we have and to show that we care. But the holidays can be a difficult time for residents in long-term care facilities, especially this year with its restrictions on visits due to the pandemic. Some of them are limited to their own rooms due to the existing COVID safety measures, and many have not seen their own family members in a long time. Warren County’s Division of Aging and Disability Services would like to invite signed holiday greeting cards from community residents who are willing to drop off a holiday card or two for nursing home residents and homebound seniors.  They will collect holiday greeting cards until noon on December 23, and you can drop them in the box in front of the Wayne Dumont Jr. Administration Building, 165 County Route 519 South, Belvidere, NJ. If you have large numbers of holiday cards, please contact the Division at 908-475-6591 and speak to a staff member to arrange for a drop off. Address the cards to “Holiday Card c/o WC Division of Aging”.  Let us spread the cheer, show that we care, and bring more smiles in this holiday season through this kind gesture.
