The story of the S/S William F. Humphrey is one of heroism, tragedy, suffering and brutality during World War II. During the short naval career of 17-year-old Seaman 2nd Class George William Metzler, he cruised the oceans for the first time, celebrated a birthday away from home for the first time and visited Africa and Iran. He also experienced the horrors of war, was wounded, captured, died, and was buried at sea. This is his story, told in a history-filled presentation by author Tom Metzler. All are welcome and wine and cheese will be served.
