The Georgian-style mansion pictured above is Shippen Manor, perched above the historic village of Oxford Furnace. Built as the iron master’s residence in c. 1754, this gem is one of 11 stops along the Explore Warren History Trail, a (free) self-guided driving tour of historic Warren County landmarks open for visitors this weekend. Start at any site, pick up your map and guide, and explore at your own pace a variety of timeless landmarks that each speaks of its own time and place in Warren County history!

Self- Guided History Trail presented by Explore Warren History Trail

Explore Shippen Manor, Blair's Town, Oxford Furnace, the Morris Canal and many more historic sites throughout Warren County. A total of 11 historic landmarks are stops on the self-guided, county-wide driving tour, where you can visit one or multiple sites at your own pace each day. The event is FREE and open to individuals and families of all ages. Printed trail maps are available at each location to start you on your history adventure. Each site will have a docent on hand to convey the history of the location; some sites will have demonstrations and festival activities. Interactive children’s activities are also planned at several locations. The event is rain or shine. Schedule details and a digital map are available at WarrenHistoryTrail.org.

Warren County wineries are hosting two fall weekends of wine tasting and leaf-viewing along with a chance to win a unique handmade charcuterie board. Visit Brook Hollow Winery, Four Sisters Winery, Little Ridge Vineyards and Villa Milagro Vineyards to fall in love with the wines and wineries from this colorful corner of the state. NOTE: The four wineries involved all have different hours. Centenary Stage Company rings in the Holiday Season with Stephen Temperley's adaptation of Charles Dickens' classic A Christmas Carol. Recapture the spirit of an old-fashioned Christmas with this timeless and ghostly Dickens classic featuring all the favorite characters—Tiny Tim and the Cratchit family, the Fezziwigs, the Ghosts of Christmas past, present and yet-to-come—and, of course, the curmudgeon, Ebenezer Scrooge. Performances run November 26 through December 12 in the Sitnik Theatre of the Lackland Performing Arts Center. Ticket prices range from $15 to $29.50 with discounts available on select performances. Livestream option available on December 5.
