Warren County Wanderings

A September to Remember

“History never looks like history when you are living through it. It always looks confusing and messy, and it always feels uncomfortable.” - John William Gardner (1912-2002), President of the Carnegie Corporation and Secretary of Health, Education, and Welfare (HEW) under President Lyndon Johnson

Fans of history will find plenty to like in this issue! As our nation prepares for its 250th birthday, the Town of Belvidere steps back in time this weekend for its 37th Victorian Day; Invertase Brewing welcomes immersive Revolutionary War-era Tavern Talks (cover photo above); and historic Shippen Manor hosts tours and activities the next two weekends.

Speaking of taverns, a new craft distillery will have its grand opening in Hackettstown later this month.

Also on the horizon is the Warren County Hot Air Balloons, Fun & Games Festival! For a chance to win a tethered balloon ride - including free admission and parking - drop us a line at Tourism@co.warren.nj.us that includes your name and phone number, with “Fly Me Away” as the subject. To win it, you’ve got to be in it!

Other major happenings in September include Washington’s Festival in the Borough; Centenary Stage Company’s 40th Season opening; a Railroad Festival and an Oktoberfest! There is so much more, so read on, and Happy Wanderings!
