Warren County Wanderings

Starting August 5, 2021

"...August still stretched before us - long and golden and reassuring, like an endless period of delicious sleep." - Lauren Oliver (b. 1982, American author)

August arrived at the beginning of this week, and in the back of our minds, we know that summer is waning. But there is still plenty of life left in it, and plenty of things to do. Including the final days of the Warren County Farmers' Fair, which wraps up its 83rd outing on Saturday. You can say "how now?" to this brown cow at the fair, and see and do lots more too. Congratulations to Cara S. of Stroudsburg, PA, grand prize winner of the Explore Warren prize drawing held at the Farmers' Fair! She and a guest will be going up in a hot air balloon! There is still time to enter to win other prizes, including a Family 4-pack of tickets to the NJ Sunflower Trail at VonThun Farms, a pair of tickets to a Centenary Stage Company production, gift cards for Czig Meister Brewing Company (which has non-alcohol novelty items available), and items from King's Gambit Coffee Co. Just visit the Explore Warren booth in the "Warren County and You" building located behind the main grandstands. Also ending this weekend is Centenary Stage Company's production of Always... Patsy Cline, and be sure to see the Plan Ahead section to get your tickets for upcoming events. Enjoy your August, and Happy Wanderings!

Coming Up:

Warren County Farmers' Fair & Hot Air Balloon Festival

Warren County's biggest annual event continues through Saturday! Hot air balloon launches each night (weather permitting) - carnival rides, animal and farming displays, arena events, food and free live music are in store for your day in the country. Tickets are still available for tonight's truck pull, tomorrow's Demolition Derby and Saturday's Rodeo, but not many, so don't delay! Czig Meister Craft Brewery will be back Friday and Saturday, and every day there's the Kids Corral with lots of free activities. Bobbie Clark Band "plays it hard" Friday night and Leah Fuls (pictured) makes the music on Saturday. Also, be sure to stop by the "Warren County and You" building where you'll find your friends from Explore Warren tourism (we who bring you Warren County Wanderings) where you can enter to win prizes, and displays from other county offices and agencies. See you at the fair!

CSC Presents: Always- Patsy Cline

More than a tribute to the legendary country singer who died tragically at age 30 in a plane crash in 1963; it is based on a true story about Cline's friendship with a fan from Houston who befriended the star in a Texas honky-tonk in 1961, and continued a correspondence with Cline until her death. Complete with down home country humor, true emotion, and even some audience participation, this musical includes many of Patsy's unforgettable hits such as Crazy, I Fall to Pieces, Sweet Dreams and Walking After Midnight - 27 songs in all.
