Warren County Wanderings

Starting June 10, 2021

“Beer is proof that God loves us and wants us to be happy.” - allegedly Benjamin Franklin, but not so. Franklin wrote in a letter to a friend, “Behold the rain which descends from heaven upon our vineyards, and which incorporates itself with the grapes to be changed into wine; a constant proof that God loves us, and loves to see us happy!” While he was known to enjoy beer, Ben Franklin was first and foremost a great lover of wine.

What does all this have to do with a beautiful rain-dropped flower, you ask? Nothing! However, with two of our breweries celebrating anniversaries this weekend, and all four wineries offering live music, a beer/wine quote seemed appropriate. This week's photo, snapped the other day in Blairstown by Erin Burnett, is just one of the many natural wonders of Warren County. (Although, rain did descend from the heavens upon the flowers, so there you go!) And the mountain laurel is in full bloom around the area, too, so head to the Delaware Water Gap and Kittatinny Ridge for a hike to experience that in all its glory.

In addition to the coming week's events, in Plan Ahead you will find ideas for celebrating Father's Day and Independence Day. But first things first! Let's not get ahead of ourselves, and enjoy the week before us - which promises to usher in cooler weather. There’s plenty of live music, tasty treats and good company to be had. Happy Wanderings!
